About FILC
Florida International Leadership Conference (FILC)
The Florida International Leadership Conference (FILC) is an annual student leadership conference organized by the Florida Association of International Educators (FAIE). Since 2007, FILC has provided a unique opportunity for students to develop leadership skills, build meaningful connections, and engage in cross-cultural learning experiences.
FILC is an immersive, retreat-style conference that brings together students, advisors, and higher education professionals from colleges and universities across Florida and beyond. The conference focuses on leadership development, global engagement, cultural awareness, and community building in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Each year, participants come together to learn from one another, exchange ideas, and strengthen the leadership skills needed to succeed both on campus and in an increasingly interconnected world.
FILC is entirely planned, coordinated, and facilitated by dedicated volunteers from colleges and universities throughout Florida who are passionate about student success, leadership development, and international education. The conference is made possible through the commitment of these volunteers, the support of FAIE, and the generosity of sponsors and partner institutions.

Who can attend?
Everyone is welcome at FILC.
Our participants include:
- College and university students
- International students
- Study abroad and exchange students
- Domestic students interested in global leadership
- Student organization leaders and peer mentors
- Advisors, coordinators, and higher education professionals
Whether you are an experienced student leader or just beginning your leadership journey, FILC offers opportunities for growth, learning, and connection.
Student Attendance Requirements
Students may not register for FILC independently. All student participants must attend as part of an official college or university delegation and must be accompanied by a faculty member, advisor, or other institutional representative.
If you are interested in participating, we encourage you to contact your international office, study abroad office, student affairs office, or another appropriate campus representative. A representative from your institution can then contact the FILC team to discuss bringing a delegation to the conference.
Exception: Students who have previously attended FILC and have been officially invited by FILC to return as Peer Leaders for the upcoming conference may attend independently as part of the Peer Leader program.
If you have any questions about student eligibility or how your institution can participate, please contact us. We are happy to answer your questions and help your institution become involved with FILC.
